Retrospective - Braidwood Quilt Event 2017

Braidwood Airing of the Quilts &

Indoor Competition & Exhibition 2017

An amazing, versatile and very beautiful collection of quilted pieces of art, were spectacularly displayed. This year Quilts were received from Queensland, Victoria, Wagga Wagga, Canberra, Queanbeyan, Bungendore, Braidwood and 2622 region, Batemans Bay, Nowra and beyond.

The return of the Indoor Competition and Exhibition was welcomed by many our thanks to June Weatherstone, her helpers and the BQI members and their families who assisted in set up/down of the theatre.

The Airing of the Quilts displayed many varied styles of quilting and as always very spectacular, our thanks to the Braidwood businesses and building owners for their assistance.

In addition there were many quilts displayed in vacant buildings and privately by a number of businesses such as the Braidwood Pharmacy and Braidwood Antique Store.

This year there were two additional events

  • Firstly - the exhibition of heirloom quilts in the Braidwood Court House and
  • Secondly - one of Australia’s leading textile artists, Lisa Walton, conducted classes over 4 days at the Braidwood Servicemen’s Club. The classes were enjoyed by all and Lisa hopes to return and hold classes in July.
