Over the past two years challenges of foxes and parrots have been made into quilts and were displayed on the day. These will be sent to children wards in nearby hospitals.
The 2018 challenge created by Braidwood Quilt Shop is the ‘Scarlet Robin’, the template and 10” square of material were provided and guests are asked to return the ‘square’ with their chosen stitching of the Scarlet Robin as soon as practical, so that quilts can be made for children’s hospitals. An additional display was provided by those who attended the recent ‘Free Form Embroidery’ course conducted by Lois McKenzie of Braidwood (you may remember Lois gave a presentation in 2017).
The guest speaker was Crystal McCann from Canberra Modern Quilters who provided an excellent presentation of her life as a quilter and the trend of modern quilting. She also provided a number of her works for guests to view.
